I've searched the forums. I've googled. I can't find anything anywhere that describes how to work with macro PAGES. Sure, individual macros are easy enough to figure out, but entire pages? Such as the "Top 20" macro page on the Exchange called "Chord Builder"?
I installed that from the in-product Browser > Cloud > PreSonus Exchange area, and it's there in Studio One. A "Chord Builder.macropage" file got downloaded to my system's generic "Downloads" folder. But I cannot find that "Chord Builder.macropage" file anywhere in an obvious Studio One-related installation location. It's not in my Studio One user library where all my presets and individual macros are. It's not anywhere in my C:/Program Files/Presonus subfolders where the Studio One binaries are. How did this thing actually get installed and where is it? And lets say I want to make my own special purpose Macro Page and distribute it to the Exchange? I can't figure out how to actually make an entirely new Macro Page in the UI itself. The Help doesn't describe that. The XML file for the macro toolbar looks way too complex to hand-edit, and even if I did that to create a new <group> element for my custom macro page, I have no idea how to extract and package that for upload on the Exchange. Are macro PAGES something that currently only Studio One devs can create? |
I thought I'd try it cause I don't know what a macro page is.
So I did it: Then it wiped out my macros and replaced with the chord builder. Ok, over at the left of the macro bar is a dropdown with macro pages, I got mine back and chord Builder is there. Right click on that button and it has new pages and groups. I guess get a new page and fill it up with your macros.

Great Question
I would like to save my macro page but have no idea how.

Right click over "Console User" or the gearwheel.
Note: Here you have the options Import and Export macro pages. Click on the gearwheel and select "Show Macro Folder in Explorer/Finder" In this folder you can find your macros and macrop pages: .studioonemacro .macropage Gottfried |
gottfriedbergmair wroteRight click over "Console User" or the gearwheel. Thank you very much! It never occurred to me to try right-clicking a drop-down field, especially with a "setup" gear-shaped button sitting right next to it. That's some.... odd... UX pattern right there. Very non-intuitive. However, it appears if you install someone else's .macropage file via the in-browser "Exchange" area, no such .macropage is added to your macros folder. Your XML file is updated correctly, and all the individual .macro files are correctly added to that folder, but not the .macropage file itself. Instead, it looks like Studio One wants to place .macropage files in your system download folder instead of inside the Studio One user library folder. This partial excerpt is from my TransferManager.settings file. Note the 2nd XML element describes what Studio One did with the "Chord Builder" macropage when I chose to install it from the in-browser Exchange area.

a) Don't worry about your XML file
The XML file was created and used by a Presonus Webservice. Web services don't have usually direct access to user directories. Instead they must transfer the content into a "sandbox download" directory. b) If you look closer, the Exchange service uses two different folders: "Macro Pages" and "Macros". I guess there are two different macro formats, and ".macropage" is the newer one. As users, we do not know the exact internal conditions. And that's fine! Undocumented XML or JavaScript files can change quickly. I was a software developer for medical tech applications for more than 30 years. And now I'm just a customer. It is a great privilege! I needed this answer too. RIGHT CLICK! Thanks for posting, OP. I never thought to right click, either. Although, now that I see the options menu, I does look familiar. Must have stumbled across it before in my earlier days as a toolbar tourist.
