At first it was annoying but now it’s infuriating. This started in 5.2 I think but honestly cannot remember now. All I know is that it started recently.

I detach my console and explode it into full screen mode by pressing the button on the top right of the console in every session in which I work. Then I use either a keyboard shortcut I mapped (Show Console) or my Faderport classic’s mix button to bounce between the edit and console view. In theory it operates as PT does.

While in console view, I add an insert. Could be a presonus plugin, pipeline, or a 3rd party plug, it does not matter.

All is well while I work with the plugin. As soon as I switch channels or close the plugin, the edit view view appears and I have to hit the keyboard command or fp mix button twice to get it to return. This only happens ONCE, when the plugin is first initialized. If an insert is added to multiple channels (multiple channels selected with shift and I add an insert across more than one channel) it only happens to the first plugin that opens, not the multiples that need to be clicked to open.

It happens on inserts added to fx and bus channels as well.

I have noticed that when this occurs, the mix window button is highlighted in the bottom right corner of the edit window. Using the keyboard command or FP one time de-highlights it. Using it a second time brings back the console view.

It is absolutely maddening to have to deal with this, especially on larger sessions where I may be running 50-60 plugins and trying different plugins l out. I feel like I’m losing my mind.

Did I make a setting change somehow that I am unaware of? Does this happen to you?

Thanks for reading,
Ian

Oddly at first I thought it had been. Then I opened an old session and nope.

It’s not repeatable with older versions of S1 but it feels like something I am doing or did, I just don’t know what.

Also check the keyboard shortcuts you made. Try turning them off briefly, and using the standard F2 and F3 for switching between edit, and mixer, and see if that's working. May also want to re reassign new commands, as well as with the Faderport assigning and see if it helps, or changes.

Lastly, check Control + F3, or Control + F2 which detach edit and mixer views respectively aren't changing what you're expecting to happen. They also create a different view based on where you last positioned them.

That way, you also have more to supply support, or possibly uproot what's going on. Don't be infuriated (even though it's a natural reaction when the unexpected happens). Things will iron out, or new methods will develop.

I am not worthy of your greatness.

I wrote out ALL of my custom keyboard shortcut modifications that I could remember and reset to the S1 standard. I went through and did each task that you offered and had no issues. I started entering my own back and...it works as normal. I don’t know exactly what happened or what I did, but thank you so much. It works just as it did before 5.2 (or more likely, ME) messed it up.

If you ever come to Omaha I’ll get you real drunk or I could send you like, $10 to your PayPal right now.

Thank you for fixing my workflow.
