Hey all,

is it possible to reflect the MIDI CCs on faders of an external device?
Like: I'm recording a MIDI CC curve with my Lemur or another iPad app and when I play it back
the changes can be seen on the faders of Lemur.

Cheers,

Stevie

Well - my endless encoders on my keyboard controller have LEDs around the knobs and they show the changes. Also the values in the display change.
I guess any controller that have LEDs, displays - anything that can show changes for a control will show the changes.
I can also imagine for example motorized faders will move according to the values.

So if this is what you mean, then it is possible

But what happens if you try to move a control yourselffrom a current value depend.
Studio One unfortunately don't have "pick up values" function. So "not endless" controls will make the value jump to the position the knob is at, when you move it, instead of wait until you pass the current value for the control.

Oh wow, okay so it's possible. But does that count for CC as well or are we talking about automation?
Yes, I know what you mean with the controller move. I guess the only solution would be to delete
everything after the cursor to deal with some kind of virgin territory.

Not sure what you mean.
A hardware control that are assigned a software control use CC for the connection. They must be connected to work.

Edit: There can be differences differences in how hardware works. So no matter what, then i suggest you try things out before you buy anything, if this function is important to you. Edit end.

Ok gotcha! Will check that out :-)

EDIT: as snb1 already stated, it's not possible.

Hey LBH!

Not quite, I was talking about ModWheel and Expression, not linked to a parameter in a plugin, but shown in the controller lanes.

Hi _Stevie_ ,

Perhaps i just don't understand what you are looking for. But to me it look like what you need to do may be possible somehow, if you can find a controller that have the needed features. Values are send from Studio One to a controller.

EDIT: And both Modwheel and volume and expression pedals have a MIDI CC number. (Any control can have that MIDI CC if wanted/ needed.) EDIT END

Best

Hey LBH!

Yeah, that's right. But I don't want to assign CC1 to something else, like a button in a plugin GUI.
I want CC1 to send CC1 so that the result is shown in the controller lanes in the key editor.
And as far as I found out, it's not possible to "chase" the controller movement from a MIDI track.
That would mean to route a MIDI track to a different output (for example not the one from the instrument, but
the one from the controller: iPad Lemur, TouchOSC, etc...).

But I would love to be proven wrong 😊
