I'm wondering if there's a reason none of the audio interfaces have a built in USB hub. Or if there are plans to feature one in the future. And if not, what work arounds do people suggest? Many thanks.

Probably due to added costs and design (limited space) issues. There's quite a few 3rd part USB hubs available. Check out Sweetwater and Amazon:

I was wanting a three port hub to cater for three usb instruments. I have a seven port hub that's full, but it's also inconvenient to have the instruments plugged in through it.

I'm not sure it's expense, but it might be lack of demand.
