in reaper and cubase a new lane is created as soon as you record over existing events/regions. I know this happens during loop recording but when I am running a session and the band or vocals are going through different parts of the song to get it just right automatic lane creation would really speed up the work flow and give me the peace of mind knowing I have everything they recorded on separate lanes giving me the most options during the comping process.
I just saw a tip "Unsupported Trick: Virtual Instruments To Audio Tracks" which is unsupported.
With Version 2 is there a supported way to record the audio (live) from a virtual instrument? Allow me to clarify...
I have just switched over to Studio One (and I LOVE it!). I am running a studio and I have a client that wants to add an organ part to his live recording. I am using native instruments which allows me to control the draw bars and everything but when rerecording/overdubbing parts they want to get precisely the previously recorded midi controls the instrument until I hit record and it makes for a challenging punch point
BUT
If I could just record the audio from the virtual instrument I wouldn't have that problem as I am probably not going back into the performance to change notes.
