no, that's not normal (or probably not...depends on FX, etc)...what latency are you running at now?

Latency settings are in the audio driver page, click the control panel button, and adjust your interface samples. higher sample count = higher latency.

any fx on the tracks? you don't have an excessive low latency setting, so I don't think that is it...and while your PC specs aren't top's, I would think it should handle more than 12 tracks. What happens if you change the audio driver to the Windows model instead of ASIO (this is just for testing)?

I do have a few FX on 7 tracks, like reverb.analog delay and Amplitude, Which I run in ECO mode which helps cut way down on CPU useage. If I disable all the FX's I get down to 70% cpu use, but the song sounds so plain and lacks FX energy.

I have tried ASIO4All and that was no help. I have not tried the windows driver, I have no sound card in this machine I just use the Audiobox.

I'm not in front of my DAW right now, but try (again, just for experimentation) setting the driver to whatever the Windows driver is as opposed to ASIO.

I still think that 70% on 12 tracks with no FX is too high.

Thanks for the help. The windows driver is worse, most times it maxed out at 100%. I rebooted each time before I tried the new drivers: Windows driver very high CPU use ASIO4All driver high 80%
Driver with Audiobox 70% - 80%. I may just have to buy a new PC, I have had these glitch problems since I started using SP1. Please believe when I say I am not complaining because I think Studio One is the best and I would recommend it to anyone that asks my opinion.
I think when you start adding FX plugins etc it will just tax a weak system like mine. maybe I am doing something wrong, like is it better to add FX during a mix instead of to the original song? I have not even tried to mix yet due to these problems.
Maybe I am asking to much of the AudioBox as I add 3 guitar parts with FX and reverb etc to the vocals. I only use the plug ins that come with SP1 and Amplitude and Harmony EFX for a vocal add on.
I have followed the steps to optimize windows for SP1 use and I feel like this is the best I can get.

yeah, my experience would say that if none of the drivers are making things better, than either it is a PC problem, or it just isn't up to the task...

for reference, back in the early 2000's I had a Pentium 3 450 mhz machine, running cubase VST 3.7, and I could get 16 tracks no problem. but we wouldn't be comparing apples to apples, so I'm not sure that info does much for you.

I wish I could help further...

You probably need to confirm this with others but I think some other things will impact cpu, like if some of the audio is being resampled on the fly (it's not the same sample rate as the project) or is being stretched without being cached. One way to eliminate these as potential issues is to select all of the audio clips and hit "B" to consolidate them and see if the cpu goes down any.

Do you see any symbols or icons on your audio clips lower left corners? That usually implies stretching or resampling. If so, select them and hit B and see if the cpu goes down any.

I selected all and hit B. It took about 40 seconds and The cpu is still high. like 75%. I see no ICONS on my tracks lower left.
