Well it has begun, I think that my Firestudio Mobile is on it's way out. Input 2 is starting to show noise when there is nothing is plugged in and now the monitor main is starting to really get skecthy (some positions only allow for the left speaker to work ). For a unit only being less than a year old, I expected more but I am not that disappointed I have learned a lot and have been really happy with the sound quality..but none the less.
I am going to start looking at interfaces and I was wondering about peoples experience with StudioOne and Non-Presonus hardware? I know that I am staying with Studio One. I love not working at making music again. LOL
For interfaces though, there are a ton of options out there. And I am looking to solve a few minor problems I have between my mobile rig and studio set up.

1) I am looking for are the ability to use my interface with my Desktop and Laptop. At this moment I have a Firestudio Mobile for my desktop and an AudioBox for my laptop ( the mobile is just not stable with the laptop, a ton of firewire issues....= headache not worth dealing with )

I have using my audiobox with my laptop with no issues at all with playback and recording seems solid as can be but I am limited to 2 tracks at a time.

2) I would to record more than 2 tracks at a time.If there is anyone out there with any USB interface experiences I would greatly appreciate any input.

one interface I was looking into was Motu's hybrid USB / Firewire ..looks promising and affordable.

If there is anyone out there with info on this interface who is using Studio One. I would really like to hear about your experiences wioth the unit.

thanks
Ricky

FireStudio Project here. I also have the FireBox for my laptop. Try looking into the Tascam boxes. They have been doing some amazing USB interfaces.

If you're looking for a USB option, I'd look at some of the M-Audio Interfaces. The M-Audio Fast Track Ultra is 8 in and 6 out.

I think Presonus should think about a few more USB Interface options becuase Laptops just aren't made with a Firewire option too much anymore.

I'm using a MOTU 2408 MK3. Works great but (of course) none of that fancy PreSonus hardware monitoring... though I don't need it in the studio.

so much to research , thank you for feedback.

in further looking at the MOTU hardware I was reading some crappy reviews on the USB part of the interface. Bummer.

For my screencasting setup, I run two interface. One is the Firestudio Project and the other is a little Focusrite Saffire 24 DSP (firewire). Clearly the Firestudio has some advantages when using S1.

But the Focusrite works great as well. Very happy with the sound quality for a budget interface.

Im using a tascam FW1884 with S1 and to be honest I won't migrate from cubase to S1 until presonus support
this device as there so many buttons that don't do anything which are mapped beautifully in cubase.
I suspect that many potential users wont jump to S1 until far more surfaces and controller keyboards are supported.

I would agree. But I really don't think they are going to add that and a few others anytime soon. Especially the older mixer\controllers.

Working with a FireStudio Mobile on this end. And I really must say it's a great unit. Rock solid and really well build as well.

The only thing I'm missing a bit is an aux output (analog). It only has the main out, SPDIF and the headphone. Adding an AUX would allow me to incorporate some analog outboard processing gear.

But other then that, I'm a really happy camper.

i have very good experiences with using a rme hammerfall dsp (multiface, with pci and pcmcia cards to connect to the different computers, as well as pci-based hdsp 9652 in conjunction with presonus ad/da). on the other hand why not stay with the audiobox on the laptop and get a pci based solution for the stationary machine?
you won't get zero latency monitoring from studio one without using a modern firestudio.
May the voodoo be with you!
