Wondering if there would be issues migrating over to the latest release of Windows 8 or if we should stick to Windows 7 for now? Are drivers being updated to support Windows 8 or will there be a delay on that?

Running Studio One Pro V2 with a Firestudio Project.

Fresh install or did you do an upgrade? I generally do clean installs. Try reinstalling S1.

Problem solved. It was an update. S1 didn´t need to be reinstalled, just had to rename the songs folder so S1 couldn´t load the old song anymore which would result in a timeout.

Really? Why would you do that? Any issues with Win 7? Any actual benefits with Win 8 for your studio?

I'm interested in seeing if the issues with WiFi and Firewire playing nicely in Windows has been solved. Probably not, haha. Plus, I can get a copy for really cheap from my buddy at microsoft.

http://createdigitalmusic.com/2012/06/music-developer-on-windows-8-a-leap-forward-for-desktops-a-leap-backward-for-metro-winrt/ looks like Windows 8 is a worthwhile consideration.

Can't confirm the performance. Haven't had enough time to really work with it, but the DPC Checker and LatencyMon results were just disastrous here ...

Quote from the DPC Checker site:

Windows 8 Compatibility: The DPC latency utility runs on Windows 8 but does not show correct values. The output suggests that the Windows 8 kernel performs badly and introduces a constant latency of one millisecond which is not the case in practice. DPCs in the Windows 8 kernel behave identical to Windows 7. The utility produces incorrect results because the implementation of kernel timers has changed in Windows 8 which causes a side effect with the measuring algorithm used by the utility. Thesycon is working on a new version of the DPC latency utility and will make it available on this site as soon as it is finished.

I installed W8 64 bit the day it came out and I haven't had any issues so far. Performance has been virtually the same as well.

@ ithepinky...

Love the Avatar sign!

How true.

Reminds of the another truism -

'Talent' has been replaced with hype over substance, shameless promotion & clearly mistaken for nothing more than simple 'popularity'.

[Apology for going off topic - just couldn't resist!]
