I am trying to do some manual de-essing on a vocal track. I set up a plugin that has a gain parameter, and would like to automate this. I set up the automation, zoom into the track, spot the S- sound; then I use the Range Tool to select the region I would like to lower in volume; now I'd like to simply drag this selection so it's a few db quieter, but don't seem to be able to do so.
Any tips on how to do this? Thanks!
1) Having turned down a selection by a few db, and I'd like to later change this again: seems the Arrow tool does not allow me to just grab this part, but instead add another anchor. Any advice on how to do this? DO I have to re-select the range with the Transform tool?
2) Can you shed some light into how you created this macro?

To adjust automation, you can either grab each point and adjust, or use transform. If you find that the entire track should be adjusted, you can use the mixtool. That can be autoomated as well.

I'll do you one better and just upload mine. You can then go into the macro editor and adjust to taste.
edit: just noticed this is my macro at work in which I had not integrated the create crossfades command. Im not sure you really need it, but some people are sticklers about crossfading any splits in the audio. It's an easy command to add in the macro organizer. If you need it and cant figure it out let me know and I'll help.
I have this macro bound the the keystroke shft+alt+x but I think you will have to set that up yourself once you download it.

In the case of de-essing: if I want to move the line between two points, any chance that can be done?

Depends on what tool you are using. If you are using a preset shape for automation, then you probably can. I can't say for sure, because I use the transform almost 100% of the time.
