As a secondary question of sorts, is there a way to make drum notes show up as some form of 'dot' as opposed to a default midi style note in midi edit view? (I've assigned your EZdrummer default map, although it works fine, the view is the same)...any ideas?

I am the newest, greenest guy to computer recording. I have Addictive Drums and Studio One Pro. What is a drum map and how is it used, whatever it is?

A drum map (a.k.a pitch name preset in Studio One) displays the names of the single drum hits in the Music Editor as shown below.
So so can use the preset for Addictive Drums for your AD Instrument Tracks.

Well, yes it would be possible, but it would make no sense whatsoever. I've looked into it and there is hardly any consistence in the way the kits are build. The pads are freely assignable and can carry any sound. So you'd basically have to map out all different presets individually.

If you make your own presets, you can easily make your own map and confirm each of your kits to that basic mapping.

AFAIK there's no preset for Studio Drummer, yet. If you send me the mapping documents I will see what I can do for you.
Or you just grab my template and create the presets on your own and share them here
