I am buying a mac book pro to run logic and as my interface use presonus firewire hopefully.

The presonus has a 6 pin firewire port is this correct?,
now some of the apple macs have firewire 400 and 800 what does this mean ..4 pin ,,6 pin????
does this create a problem with hooking up to presonus?
or should I just get a mac with a 400 port?
can use my mac as power with a 6 pin plug to presonus fire box?

Any one out their wanting to help a novice

Firewire 400 is a six or four pin (the four does not transfer power)
Firewire 800 is a 9 (pretty sure) pin connector and is what is on most macbook pro.

It is an 800 bus but will step down to 400 automatically. All you need is a cable with a 6 pin 400 on one end and an 800 on the other.

You'll need to download the mac drivers for the firebox. Make sure your operating system is compatible.
