I had the same problem. It was my wireless network driver causing latency spikes. I have to disable it when using capture and it will run for hours. I am running windows and am not familiar with the mac os. Good luck.

You really need to post more information about your system and your situation in order for us to help you. (Most users opt to put their system specs into their signature so they don't have to re-type it each time a question arises.)

Try a different FW cable.

Is anything else on the FW buss with the SL? If you have a drive on there, try recording to the internal instead. (Don't worry if it is a 5400 rpm drive, just try it.)

If you are not using wireless, turn it off.

Turn off spaces, turn off, expose, turn off the dock.

Turn off time machine. Make your record drive "private" in spotlight, or disable spotlight entirely.

Are you recording to internal or external HD. If using external, consider trying your internal.

Disable software update.

Go into Activity Monitor (utilities) and quit unecessary processes. (If you are not sure about some processes, don't quit them. Quit things that run in the background related to other programs that you don't need when recording (calendar notifications, alarms, etc) that can surprise you.

Make sure you have the most up-to-date versions of UC/Firmware and Capture.

Check your UC Safe Mode settings -- experiment to see what gives you the best performance.

If these don't work, you'll need to contact tech support and see if they can help you. Your system should easily be able to handle Capture/the SL without any real hassle. Something must be amiss.

Hi there,
I experienced exact the same problem. Running newest firmware and so on with a 16.4.2 on a HP 6715b laptop.
I read somewhere that the wireless adapter of a Dell is known for causing these troubles.
I switched it of in my HP laptop and recording seems to run like a charm now.

Consider this as an option. I will be doing remote control on a wireless router connected to the computers ethernet port.

Good Luck, Wouter

I just bought a 24.4.2 and it is doing the same thing. I start to record, everything is going perfectly then it just stops recording. Input Meters still showing input, just nothing on the session. Timeline keeps moving, but no audio track is being written to the channels.

I disabled my wireless adaptor, but that did not solve the problem.

If I press the stop button on Capture, then press Record again, it starts recording, but then stops again.

It appears as though it is getting a hiccup somehow, the timeline stops for a second, then contnues with no audio input.

HELP!!!!

I think I know what the problem is but I need you to run the OHCI Tool from the first thread of Presales on your system and post the results. This will help me confirm it.

Ok, I was wrong. Time to dig a little deeper.

Pull up your IRQ list in device manager and see if there is anything interfering with the FireWire channel.

Make sure all of your drivers are up to date.

Fire up LatencyMon and copy and paste it's data in a reply.

Thank you.....Latencymon told me I had an issue with power management so I opened my Task Manager and started ending processes until I found that the HP Power Assistant was the culprit. I uninstalled it and now everything seems to be fine.....I hope (14 minutes recording so far with no issues)

Have another issue though, that might just be me not understanding. While I am recording, I press 'insert' to place a marker, but when I am done recording, I press the 'return to zero' button and then if I try to go through my markers by clicking on the 'next marker' arrow, nothing happens. Nothing happens on 'previous marker' arrow either.

Any ideas on this?

Good to hear you got it rolling.

And as far as the markers. Are you using the latest version of capture? Previous versions had marker issues.

Log into the main site and go to My Hardware. You'll find the latest there.
