Hi, for any Sonar 7 / FS Project users out here, I have a question about driver modes. When I first setup Sonar 7, I was using WDM driver mode at the default settings, but playback was horribly stuttered. When I switched to ASIO mode, playback is great.
However, I heard from another Sonar 7 user that WDM mode works even better for him, but only if the WDM driver mode settings are set differently than the defaults. While I'm still waiting on those specific settings he's referring to, anyone else encountering this? As anyone here, I'd like to get the BEST performance out of this.
Thanks.

Here's my experience:
Sonar PE 7.0.1
FSP with wdm drivers set at 256 samples.
I let Sonar's wave profiler do the configuration.
I don't know what are the wdm driver settings that the user you say is refering to but if he is talking about sonar's settings, then of course you might to tweak a little depending on your system.
For example, I have a P4 3.0 HT with 1 GB Ram on my PC and can play 30-35 track projects with lots of plugins and BFD with latency set at about 11-15 ms. (I don't worry about latency because I don't monitor thru my DAW).
Multiprocesor selected in sonar and nothing more than the normal tweaks.
On a side note, I have to disable my internal soundcard and my pci m-audio card in order to have the FSP like a solid rock but that's all.
If there is something I can do to help, please let me know.
Good luck

Thanks Sonico,
I'll give that a try. While ASIO seems to work fine for me, do you know of any benefits of using WDM over ASIO?
By the way, here's my setup:
Sonica HUSH-QR Computer
(QX6600 Quad-Core @ 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB OS Drive, 500GB Audio, 500GB Samples drive, 8600GT Dual DVI Video)
Sonar PE 7.02
Presonus FS Project
Korg X-3 Keyboard Workstation
Windows XP SP2

Wow, you have a killer setup man!!!
I don't think there are any benefits of using wdm over asio, in my case wdm seems to work better than asio but the opposite is true for many people too.
At the end of the day, its a matter of what works best for you I think.
Cheers!!

Thanks! So far, this setup has been working great - as you know, you always want to make sure all the optimization is in place. Thanks for your response.
