View Full Version : Did the FSP Leopard driver do the trick?
I'm still tempted to buy the FSP even with all of the bad press. How is the FSP Leopard driver working out? Are the issues resolved?
Also, most of the forums I read were regarding issues with FSP combined with notebook/powerbook & Leopard. Do the problems also exist for users with Power PCs/Leopard, or are they for some reason limited to laptops?
thanks!
Jake
They haven't released Leopard compatible drivers for the FireStudio yet. We are all waiting anxiously. The previous drivers had a few Mac glitches...
it's my understanding that leopard drivers have been released for FS Project, but not FS 26. is that right? Firestudio Project is the one I'm referring to up above.
I've also heard I should be good to go because I have a Power PC G5, not a macbook. Just hoping to reinforce that info before I spend $499.
thank you,
Jake

Well there are two issues here: l leopard, and firewire sets. I am nearly sure about your chipset working, but can someone tell us about leopard?

Several people (me for one) have reported problems getting the FSP to sync up with a G4 or G5 Mac...
When I called tech support the first time they told me the unit must be defective, exchange it -- no dice, the 2nd was bad that way as well. But it does work with an Intel MacBook Pro - except for the crackling. :-(

ahhh bummer, i ordered it this morning. oh well, buy the ticket take the ride i guess.
i sure would like to hear a few more success stories.
i have leopard and tiger on my computer (on separate drives), so i can deal with any leopard issues until drivers are out.
i haven't had any real problems with my firebox. i can only hope that's an indicator that all of my gear will be compatible.
it sure would be nice to hear something from presonus...or apple for that matter.
i'll let you know what happens either way.
is the crackling manageable? i've had that problem to some extent with every firewire interface i've owned. for me, it only happens occasionally at the beginning of a session. restarting my system fixes it.

That has pretty much been my same experience with the crackling.
I'm sure Presonus is scrambling to get this driver released... And when it finally comes, I'm sure we will all be happy with our FireStudio.
