Hi everyone -
Everything sounds fine when I record using my FS Project, however, when I'm recording electric guitar, I almost always get this layer of fuzz that muddies up the sound significantly. It seems that whenever my attack (strum) is anywhere above being really soft, this hissy/fuzzy noise shows up. This happens even with clean guitar, no matter how loud/soft my guitar is, no matter what mics I use and no matter where they are positioned, no matter how far below clipping I have the FSP set, no matter what input I'm using. I know it's not the mics since they don't cause this problem on other recording devices.

I'm using a new FSP with Logic Express 8 on a brand new iMac. Again, drums, vocals, everything else sounds fine! And it's definitely not coming through my amp. I can reduce this nasty fuzzyness if I roll off some of the extremely high end, but it's still quite prevalent. Am I missing something? Granted, I'm new to home recording, but this is just baffling! Anyone else experience anything like this? Can anyone help?

Thanks for any help!

are you recording direct to the FS on input 1 or 2 (hi-z) ?

No, I'm miking my amp. I've tired using all the inputs, but it's the same problem regardless. I have not plugged my guitar directly into inputs 1 or 2 (mainly because I prefer my amp sound to amp plug-ins), but I suppose I could try that and see what happens.

The only thing I could think of besides mic placement and bad mics is maybe there is a sample rate mis-match, or a clock source is not correctly set. That would probably affect all the tracks, but you might only notice it on the guitars because of their timbre.

is your signal too hot maybe? If other soundsources are fine....
I've done pretty good recordings with the FP using mics on guiter....

Hmm, I don't know man, I record a lot of guitar on the FSP via mic'd cabinets and they all come out ok, maybe you got a bad unit.

How come most of the problems reported are Mac problems. Maybe someone should spoof the Mac commercials on YouTube lol...
