View Full Version : Firestudio Project - occasional spikes?

I've been up and running on my FS Project, and am loving it (using with Sonar 7 PE). One weird thing, however, is that I noticed that when the FS Project is idle, that is, no sound inputs going into it, there's an occasional spike on random inputs. But, there's nothing audible - it just does this from time to time. Has anyone seen this before?
I was thinking it was power, but I'm using Furman M-8D Power Conditioners.
Thanks.

Yeap mine does that too, don't worry about...seems like the preamps needs to make some exercise or stretch their legs when they are idle.

lol...ahh yes...the controversial spikes ;)
A side effect of every device that uses the dice-ii chipset, as far as I can tell. I researched this one to death. Drove me abso-$&#$&-lutely nuts. I finally gave up.
Here are some of my findings, if you are interested...or...."How I learned to stop worrying and love the spikes"

He is talking about spikes in the meters, not CPU spikes, but thanks for the heads up.
AFAIK. I've read about those spikes even before getting my FSP, then in practice, I never found those spikes to cause slowdowns or any other problem. so... :)

doh! Thanks for that. I saw 'spike' and jumped to the proverbial conclusion...shame on me.
Yes...I get these spikes in the meter, as well.

Hm, and I thought I was getting those spikes because live mics are plugged into all the inputs. Interesting...well I guess ho harm, no foul.
