Hi all.
I've got a fuse problem that I hope you can help me with!
I just added a Firestudio Project interface to my G5 based home studio and have had more than a few problems.
Whenever I plugged in the first unit I got, the 1 amp fuse below the IEC inlet blew instantly. I swapped the unit for another from the shop, assuming it was faulty, but the replacement is sort of doing the same thing. It worked for a few minutes, but the Mac couldn't see the unit in Audio MIDI Setup, and the FireControl app just sat in the dock with an exclamation mark. Then the fuse blew again.
I've tried it on a different socket across the room and the fuse blew, but using it downstairs on my MacBook was OK.
Do I have a 2nd faulty unit?

I have the same problem with mine. Fuse keeps blowing after a couple of switch ons (sometimes at the first one), one second after pressing the switch. Same problem in several places in my house, no problem with any of my other musical gear. I've seen the same problem in several forums.
I'm returning it for exchange, but since it seems to be a manufacturing quality or design flaw issue, I'd like to know how to make sure I don't get another faulty unit...
Same problem here (Norway, picked up my unit yesterday).
First, the firewire interface went down (seems dead). After a power off/on, the fuse blew. Replaced the fuse, firewire still dead, and the fuse blew after a few minutes. I'm also returning my unit for exchange.

same problem with mine (Switzerland).
When I first switched it on everything worked. The second time the fuse blew instantly. So I bought some more fuses, but they all blew.
I returned my unit and got a new one from my dealer.
This time I went to my bandmates room to try it out. I wanted to be shure that the problem was not with my sockets at home.
The third time I switched it on the fuse blew again!! Since I desperately wanted to start recording I replaced the fuse and tried again. It worked and I could record for several hours.
Since then, I have the same problem every third to fourth time I use it. No fuse problems while the unit is running, the crucial point seems only to be the switching on.
I think I will return this unit as well.. It's a pity, since I love it (when it works!!)
So I get the impression that something is wrong with the European models.
Does anyone have a 230V unit that works properly, no matter how many times you switch it on and off?

I'd leave the unit ON unless you really need to do otherwise.
I forgot, can you tell me the amperage of this fuse? just in case, I'll buy a lot of them...I don't want to travel with my laptop and my FSP and have to wait in a critical recording session just because a blown fuse.
Another question, can a FSP work with 110v and 220v? I travel a lot to europe (I live in Caracas, ChavezLand) so I really need to know.
thanks!

Same problem here, - got mine to day, live in Denmark.
I`ve changed the fuse 3 times.
The problem might be the fuse itself. The factory fuse is type F1A250V.
A friend of mine who knows about these things, told me that "F" stands for "fast", meaning the fuse is fast reacting when power is switched on, and there might very well be a peak in the voltage when switching on.
There is another type, -"T", - which is a more slow reacting type. It is still 1A250V, but is not so sensetive to power-up voltage.
I`ve emailed Presonus tech-support asking if this "T"-type fuse could solve the problem. I`ll get back here when I get the answer, - hopefully tomorrow.

Same problem here (Ireland). Fuse blows occasionally when switching the FSP on or off.
Had a similar problem a while ago with Behringer Studio Monitors, support suggested to replace the fuse with one with a slightly higher value. Let's see what Presonus support has to say...
