I have tried many different things to get my mac G4 to connect and sync with the project. I found out that my firewire card is a 800 and I need a 400. So I bought a 400 at Best Buy (without the NEC chipset) STILL DIDN'T WORK!!!. I then decided that maybe something is wrong with my computer. Tried to connect it to another G4 mac with the same PC card. STILL DIDN'T WORK!!!!!!. Maybe it would be the PC card. I connected it to my roomates Toshiba PC running XP. I installed the drivers and it syncs. So its not interface b/c it works, its not the PC card cause it works. ITS THE DRIVERS PROVIDED THAT DON"T WORK WITH MY MAC. I have tried to been in contact with presonus and They told me that they were working on the drivers. I don't know if I can believe them because from the looks of the forum, they have been promising drivers for a long time. I am very frustrated that this $500 audio interface doesn't work with my machine when in clearly states that it should work with MAcOS with a firewire 400 port.
I am curious what people think i should do b/c i have only 7 more days till i can't return it for a refund. Should I trust Presonus because it seems like their costurmer support is bellow average.

I think that if it's not working, you're tired of messing with it, and you're running out of time to return the unit, you should take it back.
Hey wait, did you try installing Windows XP on your Mac and running it from there? Might be worth a shot...

Honestly this is odd, mac problems really only usually come from the new type of apple chipset which you dont have

...or from Leopard. Which OSX is used?

My Mac Pro has a firewire 800/400 port, and it runs my firepod just fine (firepod users are also warned not to use combo cards).

elambe, what age r ye man. Town down your posts, I've read the other thread where start rambling too. It really isn't necessary and won't get you any help.
Well, since yer going for the Motu I'd suggest any mod will clear out your account since this is a PRESONUS forum. Have a nice day...

Hi SJONES,
I'm sorry to hear the Project didn't work out for you.
All of our interfaces are 400 mbps interfaces and REQUIRE a 400 mbps connection. It's in our FAQ and all over this forum.
Our Firestudio Project drivers do work on OSX at the moment. There are some updates coming out soon for the Project, that will address a few issues.
We make no claim anywhere that states our interfaces work on 100% of the computers out there. It's impossible. There will unfortunately be incompatibilities with some machines. That's just the nature of recording audio with computers!
The OSX drivers work on the Mac Mini I'm using here (10.4.9) and with other Macs we have in this office. Obviously something was not compatible with the combination of your computer and our driver. It's hard to say what the issue was exactly without knowing all of the factors.
Should I trust Presonus because it seems like their costurmer support is bellow average.
Sorry, but many users and I will disagree with your statement.
We do everything we can to help customers in need and we actually want to see our customers do well with our products.
All the best with your recording!

You're obviously not over it, or you wouldn't be whining about it [still]!

For some reason I did not take the project back to GC over the weekend and get the motu. Not that my son his friends and I know what sounds good what doesn't in preamps, we don't. I liked the features of this unit and still costs less than the motu. Even though we did get clicking on playback we had none while recording there song, so thats good. As soon as I did the 44 to 48 sample thing the clicking was gone for a while. We can at least play around with the mixing and effects within garageband while waiting on these new drivers. So far my 3 calls to presonus tech support has been positive, they have been friendly and helpful as best they can. After reading the post by the moderator I'm feel a bit better about keeping the project that they are coming out with updates like I was told the other day.

'sup?
i sent an email to tech support requesting a plugin yesterday. i got it within an hour.
the popping and clicking has been a rare occurrence for me since i increased the memory in my system.
restarting my system would fix the problem even before i increased the memory.

Try changing the sample rate to 48k and back the next time you get some pops and clicks. We've noticed that Logic 8 sometimes looses sync with firewire audio interfaces (even class compliant ones). It's a known bug, Apple's working on it.
