I have FINALLY got my FIREPOD up and running. I can record and the clarity is great. But after reaching this point I've hit two large problems.
One) For some reason the MIDI drum program BFD I had been running won't work transfer the loops to SONAR 3.
and more importantly...
Two) All my playback from using the FIREPOD as my soundcard. Be it tracks I'm recording with it or MP3s already on my computer - they only play out of my left speaker or headphone channel. I went and got a 1/4 inch stereo splitter from guitar center and a 1-4 inch to 1-8th inch adapter to hook up my comp. speakers.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm this one step away from being able to record and mix!! Is it possible to 1/4th to 1/8th adapter isn't stereo? Is there a firepod function i need to switch? Help is appreciated.

Your using both 1 and 2 main outs right? There labeled wrong, they should be L and R. Only thing i can think of.

And it still has the same problem. I don't know what you mean by using L and R in regards to the FIREPOD itself. I've used the stereo splitter to combine the 1 and 2 into a single input for my computer speakers and it still comes out L channel only.
Also if I use the mono input in SONAR, will I be able to pan it anywhere or only on the side I recorded it in mono?

Howdy beardsley..basicly you need to get a 2TS into a single TRS 'Y' cable.
At one end are two TS mono jacks, the other end a single TRS stereo jack. The mono jacks are plugged with left going into 1 and right going into 2
Make sure your 1/4" to 1/8" adapter is stereo as well and the 1/8" jack should also be TRS stereo.
Hope this helps :)

Re: All my playback from using the FIREPOD as my soundcard. Be it tracks I'm recording with it or MP3s already on my computer - they only play out of my left speaker or headphone channel
- You have to go into your recording programs (cubase, protools, etc) device setup menue. Then set up your channel inputs and outputs (in cubase this is done in the vst connections menue). Most musical instruments are mono by nature so assign the channels input to mono *(midi and stereo signals are another discussion). Now you can assign each track/input a stereo/mono out bus to your DAW. If you don't have mono busses showing already you'll have to add them.
It's all about setting up your input/output busses correctly. When I first got my firepod it took a whole day to figure out the reason I was only getting left signal in my headphones was my input channels were all set to stereo L.

Phunky and piersonm had the right answer for me. The manual doesn't say specifically whether the main output is stereo or mono, but on p. 19 it specifically states that the Line Outputs can use either "balanced (TRS - Tip Ring Sleeve) 1/4" cables or unbalanced TS (Tip Sleeve) 1/4" cables."
Does this mean that each of the outputs marked 3, 4, 5 & 6 are stereo, or, are they each half of a stereo signal, as one would expect if the numbering and "explanation" weren't there?

In the stereo point of view, they are each half of a stereo signal. For instance if you want to output a stereo signal, you choose a pair at a time, ie outputs 1 & 2, 1 being left and 2 being right. Same goes for outputs 3 - 8, ie 3&4 , 5&6 , 7&8.. the odds are left and the evens are right.
Hope this clears things up :)
ps..beardsley, sorry i'm not able to answer your first question, not quite a MIDI person myself :D
