Right now I have an MBox Mini and I'm fed up with it. I've been told that your system requirements with Digidesign stuff has to be to the letter or you'll have problems, which I'm having.
Looking at the Firebox, the system requirements are...
Windows
• OS: Microsoft Windows XP
• Computer: Windows compatible computer with IEEE 1394 FireWire port.
• CPU/Clock: Pentium, Athlon with 900Mhz or higher (1.5GHz recommended)
• Memory(RAM): 256 MB (512MB recommended)
And my computer has Windows XP Home, firewire port, Pentium 4 processor 2.80GHz and 99GB of RAM.
So it looks like I should be able to use the FireBox without any issues.
Is there anything else I need to know about my system requirements? Or is this pretty much a plug in and play set up?

You have to watch what firewire chipset you have, presonus stuff likes TI stuff. That sounds pretty good, sometimes you have to watch your video card, and make sure there is not also firewire 800 in your firewire chipset. Really you should just search the forum, there is TONS of info on compatibillity. Also, a fair list of things on the Presonus FAQ.
When you say you have 99GB of ram, I don't think thats true. You could not have meant 99MB of course, you would not have gotten XP on there. How much ram DO you have?

Ooops, I meant 0.99 GB of RAM.

Don't forget the FAQ, it has a concrete list of stuff with known problems.
I'm only pursuing this out of curiosity, but RAM can essentially only be bought in chips of 128, 256, 512, 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4GB. Well, I guess the 1 GB is 1.024 GB technically, and each one after that being double that. I don't think you could get yourself 0.99 GB (about 990MB).
:) Just wondering.

Do you have an onboard Video chipset. That will utilize some of your RAM(configured in BIOS/CMOS) if so, you may have started with 1 gig(1024) meg's of RAM and the sys is using some. However, most onboard Video chipsets utilize memory in 32 MB chunks.Right click on "My computer" goto Properties. In the General window you will see @ the bottom "computer" EG~ My work PC says 3200+ 2.0 GHz,960 MB RAM, this is because i asssigned 64 MB of RAM to my onboard Video.
Hope that helps.

Ah, thats interesting. I have always been a Mac fellow, and I never realized that windows did not registrar the memory devoted to onboard chipset as system memory. That would explain some weird memory listings...

I actually have 1 GB of RAM. I 've been told that my computer shows that I have .99 because something is using that .01
I have to look into what my chipset is. I'm pretty sure that's the reason I have problems with ProTools.

ya, your on the right track(no pun intended) I'm curious as to what System resource would use(1%)10.24 meg's of RAM though? You may want to check on the manufacturer's website to confirm your chipset/config for compatability.I had a digi 002 and it ran perfect on my sys. and now cubase4 with a Firestudio/Digimax FS/HP60.
Cheers!
