I have had a firepod for about a year now, and have had no problems with it all this time. However, I recently bought another for 16 inputs and had some trouble getting them to work together.

I removed the drivers for the original firepod from my PC and attempted to reinstall the the drivers with both firepods connected (thats what the wizard told me to do) but to no avail.

In the end, I managed to update the firmware for the new firepod to FP10 which is what I wanted, but now the older firepod wont even get recognised on my system.

If I try erasing all drivers off my system and reinstalling them with the older firepod alone, everthing goes ok until it tells me to connect the unit and press continue. The firewire port #1 on the unit doesnt do anything at all, however, the firewire port #2 on my unit starts the 'found new hardware wizard' on my system but only recognises the firepod as AV/C SubUnit. When I try to continue the driver install process with the firewire cable in port #1 and #2, nothing happens and it still tells me to connect the unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And , It just got back from the shop! $85 smackers and same exact thing!!!!
FP10 upgrade included on the printout along with replacement of BOTH firewire ports, one of which went south on me within the first few months of use. The other after a year or so, but after the warrantee ran out. I used the same firewire to connect to an external HD and worked like a charm, so this rules out my 1394 port having issues.

Running Cubase SX3 device manager errors on the following> AV/c subunit, AV/C Audio, PCI bridge device SM bus controller,

Wish I could be layin tracks!! HELLLLP fix this issue please:mad:

alexthekid,

Your first unit is a firepod. Your second unit is an FP10. They will not work together as is. This means that you need to do the following:

You need to convert your firepod to an FP10 (as there is no FP10 to firepod convertor AFAIK). You must contact Presonus (I suggest calling) to get the Firepod to FP10 convertor. They used to have it available for download, but no longer.

You then need to uninstall your firepod drivers and install FP10 drivers. The only version available seems to FP10 2.46. I'm 99.9% sure there is an FP10 version of the 2.14.25 driver, but I have failed to get any tech support to respond to this.

They did the same thing to me. Its a really dumb move on Presonus's part, IMHO. Basically you now have an FP10 instead of a firepod. The drivers you currently have installed are Firepod drivers and not FP10 drivers. You need to uninstall the firepod drivers and install the FP10 drivers. FP10 2.46 appears to be the only FP10 version currently available.
