Hello, I'm using a macbook (not pro) 2.2GHz which came loaded with Leopard OSX. I'm having nothing but problems with the project interface when trying to record audio. It syncs wonderfully and is fully compatible it would seem at first, then you try to record something and after about 2-3 minutes I get nothing but static and popping overlaying the audio. I've tried logic, cubase, even garageband, all recording one track at a time. Is this maybe the driver issue that I've heard about? Should I be waiting for an update before this will work with Leopard? Thanks for any help!!

I have been experiencing the exact same problems and the only remedy I have found to be full proof is to install Tiger rather than Leopord. I am currently running a Macbook Pro with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 and 2 gigs of ram, Logic 8 with a Firestudio Project on OSX 10.4.11 with no problems. If I upgrade to Leopord however I get audio dropouts, high latency, pops/clicks, and audible distortion. Im hoping Leopard updates and a new software driver for the Firestudio project will help my rig to be fully functional on Leopard soooon.
I also found this on the Presonus site:
"Leopard Compatibility
Many customers have been asking about Leopard compatibilty with our line of interfaces. The Inspire, FireBox, FirePod, FP10, and FireStudio Project are all currently Leopard compatible. Leopard drivers for the FireStudio 26x26 and VFire will be released by the end of November 2007.

There has been a driver update as of 11/1/2007 but it doesnt fix the problem.
Don't waste your time with Leopord right now. Yea it's freaking sweet but in all reality I'd rather have my $4000 rig actually function haha. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. Can someone from Presonus support give an update on this? MBP with Leopard and just bought the FSP last week and unfortunately can't use it. I'm using the latest driver and I'm on OS X 10.5.1.
Are there folks out there that have this config with it working correctly?
Thanks!

In another thread which evades me right now, Wesley mentioned that the Inspire, Firebox, Firepod, FP10, and Firestudio Project are all CLASS COMPLIANT devices.
Translation? Presonus did its part, any problems are on APPLE to be fixed, the drivers are built by apple right into the system.

Hi there, I've touched on this in another post but it bears repeating... basically they're waiting on tests with Leopard to figure out why we get this so called "crackle of doom" then they talk to Apple about fixing the drivers. For the time being I have found that it you get this crackle, change from 44.1 to 48, then back to 44.1 again. This has worked to get rid of the noise on Logic 8 as well as Cubase LE 4. Give it a try for now, and hopefully they'll get this driver thing straightened out soon.

sorry to bump an older thread, but I'm having this issue too, on a new Macbook w/ Leopard. Strangely enough, my Mackie Onyx Satellite doesn't have any problems at all, but the PreSonus Firestudio Project is giving me fits.
I've been speaking with PreSonus tech-support and they are very accomodating. It's just that, so far, none of the suggestions are helping.
The only thing that momentarily stops the crackle/distortion/noise is to reset the sample rate as noted in the previous post. But the problem comes back almost immediately, in my case.
The really weird thing (to me) is that I can record multiple (simultaneous) tracks CLEAN.
Even though I hear the crackle while monitoring, if I play the tracks with the PreSonus uninstalled they sound fine. So the signal is getting through to Logic just fine, but I have this unbearable crackle while monitoring through the PreSonus.
I just thought that maybe by typing this out, something new might occur to me, or someone might have found a work-around since the last post.
I like the sound of the recorded tracks, but they are a real pain to record with all that garbage through the monitors. I wonder why my Mackie works fine, but the PreSonus is having this problem~
also, I notice on the Apple discussion forums, they say their waiting for PreSonus to release the new drivers to fix the issue.

I'm still having the problem. If i switch sampe rate back and foth. IT eliminates the issue for about ten minutes. Killing me - I love the FSP - great sound. Can we g3et this fixed ?
I had (have!) a similar problem which the 3.0.108 BETA drivers *almost* fixed. It's better but not perfect now...

yeah, this is causing me nothing but stress.
ive noticed in the activity monitor that the process "coreaudiod" often becomes a red "not respsonding" when the glitchiness kicks in. force quitting the process sometimes resolves the problem for a few minutes, but then it comes back. ive also noticed that the playback glitchiness takes a while to happen after ive restarted my computer, but as time passes, it becomes more and more of a problem.
at this point i want to get rid of the unit... please please please help us/apple fix this problem presonus.

I'm having the same exact problem with a Macbook Pro 2.33 Ghz and 2 GB RAM and Logic Pro 8.
Have there been any updates on new drivers or fixes?

I had the same problem with my firestudio project. I am running leopard on my macbook pro. A quick fix for me was in the firecontrol software I would switch the clock from internal to SPIDF. When I did this the software would revert back to internal but the clicks and pops would stop. However they would continue about 5-10 mins later. After being tired with this solution I tried my firepod on two friends computers(they have the same model as me). On their computers it worked fine. So I thought it cant be the firestudio project. The solution that finally worked for me was to erase my hardrive and start fresh. This was the final solution and my firestudio project hasn’t had any pops of clicks and has been working great. This is probably not the way you want to fix this problem but it worked for me.

Hi All,
I'm using a 20" iMac with Leopard and a FireStudio Project, and it works great. Those of you with pops/clicks, you can refer to another post I made on this forum about pops and clicks on a Mac: http://forums.presonus.com/showthread.php?t=5469
If you've done all that, and you're still having trouble, contact either myself or techsupport@presonus.com, and we'll be able to help you further to see if your unit itself might have a problem.

Hey, did anyone ever find a solution to this crackling issue that occurs after a few minutes with Leopard. I tried all the suggestions from Brandon Hays, but none of them worked. I have the exact same problem, crackling that only stops when I change the sampling rate, then it comes back after after a few minutes. Any other things i could try would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Well I'm gonna get a new 2.4Ghz Macbook Pro and I'm pondering on whether I should get a Firebox or the Fire Studio Project. Does anyone now if there's still a problem with these and Leopard?

I am having this same problem and starting another thread before I saw this one.
Any updates or fixes as of July 18th ?
Also, I'm I correct that using Tiger instead of Lepord fixes this?
I'm totally new to Machintosh, so can someone tell me how much of a pain it is to make the switch from Leppard to Tiger, and what impact will this have with other operations in the iMac ?
Thanks

Hi,
I am having the same problems.
I have just bought a firestudio and running it on logic.
My mac has only 1gb of memory but I am not running anything else and it appears to happen even when running itunes.
I have run all the other things suggested but this is a major pain in my hoop. Has anyone ever found a permanent solution to this?
I have a year old macbook which is intel chip one. 1gb of RAM and plenty of hard disk space. I have encountered this problem even when trying something simple with the mac book. Even when running a midi keyboard through USB and using NI B4 through logic.
I am seriously thinking about sending the firestudio back if I cannot resolve this as it is unworkable really.

I had another go with this last night and was able to do a load of recording/monitoring so I am not sure if my problem is resolved now! But if there is anything else to suggest to make sure I have "cured" the problem completely - please do tell!
Cheers Folks!
