I should have known better. Vista has been the bain to my existance.

I just recieved my firepod (which must be a brand new DISCONTINUED PRODUCT since it is NOT listed on in the products of preSonus - shame on musiciansfriend - shame).

None the less - I downloaded the "driver/installation" for this - all goes fine.

Sonar 6 says this:
"The following driver(s) either do not
support the current audio format, or are
in use by another application.

Please choose whether you want to
disable them or use them anyway.

I have deleted AUD.INI several times resetting the firepod input to 44 and 48 kHz respectivlely. Nothing works.

This is Sonar 6 Producer Edition on Vista 32 bit.

I am seriously bummed out. Did I just purchase OBSOLETE HARDWARE brandnew? - This would not be the first time. It is the greatest trick of all .... OUTDATE the stuff as soon as it hits the shelves - driving more sales.

BUMMED BUMMED BUMMED. I came from the ECHO GINA - working great ...just needed more inputs was all.

You can salvage this sale by helping me - Hopefully yours : tossthekitty.

The Firepod was simply re-named the FP10 (apparently something to do with Tradmarks). The FP10 is essentially the same hardware as the Firepod. It is listed on the Presonus product list as: FP10 (formerly Firepod). So, no you did not buy obsolete hardware. On the other hand, Vista is a real problem with many (?most) audio interfaces. If you do a search on this site, you will find lots of discussion about problems with Vista (eg. http://www.presonus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2762). Your problem is much more likely to be related to Vista (or to Sonar configuration) than the Firepod/FP10.

tossthekitty, there are more knowledgeable people around here than me, but make sure all this stuff is set first:

Uninstall the Firepod drivers, then reinstall them (just to start fresh). Once reinstalled, in the Firepod mixer/ console, set your sample rate to 44.1kHz.

Open Sonar, but when you do, you might get the same error. Don't be scared, just keep following the directions below....

In Sonar, under OPTIONS - AUDIO - GENERAL, make sure that your Firepod is chosen for recording and playback and set the sample rate to 44.1kHz. Under OPTIONS - AUDIO, click the ADVANCED tab and set it to WDM. Go back to OPTIONS - AUDIO - GENERAL and click the WAVE PROFILER at the bottom.

EDIT:

Then, close out of Sonar and restart it. This is important.

Do that and tell us if it works. One thing, though: sometimes, in Sonar, when you make a change (like, say, changing the sampling rate), you have to actually close out of the program for the change to take effect, so if my suggestion doesn't work, try closing out of the program after each step, then restarting it to make the next change until you've gone through all my steps. If you have to do it this way, you might get the same error message from your original post each time until all the steps are complete....

I have been using my Firepod with Vista for 5 months and never had a problem. The Firepod and Vista are very stable for me. The problems I had initially were with Cubase LE. Once I upgraded to Cubase Studio 4 everything has been perfect.
I'm not bragging I'm just saying that Vista and Firepod will work and the problem could be with your software.
Have you tried a fresh install of Sonar?

It's not Vista that's the problem. He or she simply isn't configuring the Firepod to work with Sonar correctly. What I'd like to know is whether he or she can play back OTHER types of files (say, MP3 or video files) and get sound or if it's confined to Sonar. If it's confined to Sonar, my bet is that he needs to go through all the steps I outlined in my last post. The error message in the original post certainly indicates that this is the case.
