I recently sent my Firebox in for an issue with the sync (was dropping in and out)... got it back and it has been working fine since.

Today I tried installing the latest drivers (2.46) and now the firebox is NOT detected by the XP. I'm at the step where it says to reconnect the Firebox (done) and the light comes on blue... then turns red. Flashes once, and stays Red.

I've this 4x or so, and it's hooked up 2nd in line on my firewire chain... tried it as the 1st in line (with nothing else hooked up) and the same issue (blue for a few seconds, then red for good).

this is driving me nuts... is there anything I can try to get the Firebox detected by XP again???

thanks.

Its the port you plug it into. If it doesn't have TI chips that maybe the problem also if you are using xp sp2 you may also need the MS fire wire patch. Google it.

Here is the link to the patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222

Also make sure you have Texas instrument chips on your fire wire card or mother board. which ever one you are hooking it up to.

I just installed again the old and good 1.20 driver (that comes with CD) and everything went back to the normality, except by a new phenomenon.

Follow me: Control panel, sounds proprieties, audio tab = BCo #0 MainOut !?!?

PreSonus FIREBOX 1/2 MainOut is not displayed anymore, although it works normaly.

Can it be a FIREBOX (I mean hardware) problem?

TNX!

OK lets start from the beginning

1. delete all drivers even on the hard drive
2. remove all soft ware related just to the fire box
3. disconnect the fire box
4. leave the fire box fire wire disconnected
5. remove any other sound card if possible through the bios if integrated in the mother board
6. reboot
7. reinstall driver software from scratch
6.

What fire wire card are you using. Does it have Texas instrument chips. is it an on board fire wire connection. If you are using xp sp2 try and load a xp patch involving a xp bug

2. Remove all softs includes WMPlayer?

OK from scratch again.

1. Go to start>control panel>system> hard ware tab>device manager. Look for the fire box driver. Delete it. It may ask if you want to delete the associated software. click yes. make sure the fire box is still connected when doing so. once done then disconnect it right away.

2. go to windows explorer and look for any installed firebox software and delete as well. then empty the recycle bin.

3. reboot

4. install new or old software/drivers of your choosing
5. reconnect the fire box when it tells you to.
6. reboot again
7. set the settings to either 44 or 48 in the fire box control panel.
8. go to the Windows side and make sure the fire box is setup as your sound card.
9. in your sequencer/software make sure the frequency is the same as the fire box control panel.
