Firebox New Problem

Since updating all drivers and firmware and also experimenting with different sample rates and latency settings, i now find i get distortion when switching apps.I use Cubase Studio 4 with latest update,and when i,m running Windows media to learn stuff ,or listen to stuff on the web,i often get distortion.Opening the Firebox settings Panel and juggling about with web pages gets the sound back.It doesn,t affect Cubase.
Anyone else had similar behaviuor?

Hi Violetice,
I am having the same problem with my FireBox and Cubase Studio4.1.
I am using a 1.2Ghz G4 Mac tower w/896 ram , it works fine with my built in card, but as soon as I plug in the Firebox(firewire) I get the scratchie sounds.
It seems to be only when I am using VST's (HalionOne) that the scratchies happen, not with audio. Have not had a chance to try more recorded sounds.

I have tried using the Firebox firm update (v2 8.15.07 build) and the firmrollback with no change. unless I didnt do the rollback correct.

It all started with the CS 4.1 update,but not pointing fingers yet as it runs fine on my work macbook pro(intel), so your not alone, not sure where the fix will come from, but if you can go back to 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 things should be better till then.

so, I hope this helps, maybe presonus will step in and offer a solution.

I don't if this has anything to do with your situation, have you set your system so that it does not power down, hibernate etc., screensaver seems fine, but i remember reading not to let it power down. also seems i have read that several people had problems after updating their firebox software.

Can report that back at 44khz,things seem ok again.I,ve noticed maybe a coupla new bugs in Cstudio4,so,maybe need to report over there too.I like the new side-chain and the other new stuff,i won,t go back.
I still think its this ram allocation issue with Vista.I now have 4mb,the max,and i still have probs.Finally,it might just simply be running my Emu X2 which still does not have new Vista drivers'since feb i,ve waited).

Hi guys
Just to update.I,m still having distortion problems when runni,g C4.1 and Media Player.Swapping between apps causes Media Player to start distorting,Cubase is fine when i switch back.
Workaround is to open the Control Panel then close it,repeat and voila its ok.
Anyone at Presonus know anything about this?
We are talking here about behaviour with Cubase Srudio 4.1 ,the latest version. I don,y know if it is here the new problem.I,m waiting for a Hotfix from Steinberg.

Just a quick update
Got the Hotfix for Cubase,and i still have noise problems switching between the internet and Media player.I think things r ok switching between Cubase abd Media Player.
Anyone else still having these probs?
Would anyone at Presonus care to say something?
