Hi,
I have a brand new Firestudio Project, fresh out of the box.
I'm trying to get it working on an iMac G5, OSX Tiger 10.4.10, 1.5 Gb RAM.
I downloaded the latest installer (3.00.70) from presonus.com
I installed the software.
I rebooted the Mac.
I connected the Firestudio firewire cable (Firestudio is powered off).
I powered on the Firestudio.
The sync light blinks red and blue - no sync.
I ran Firecontrol app - I get "Presonus Firecontrol" on the menu bar, no window at all, the dock icon has a red exclamation point on it.
The FS does appear in System Profiler.
It does not appear in Audio/Midi setup.
I normally have an external FW hard disk attached, so I disconnected it and connected the Firestudio to the Mac using the known good cable on the known good firewire port. No change.
Any suggestions?

BTW, I'm not too happy with the phone support line, I hung in on hold twice today, and after 20 or 30 minutes the stupid machine hung up on me. Not nice!

Hi Tim.
Sorry about the phone issue. We're getting that fixed right now.
For the FS Project, if it's not showing up in the Audio MIDI setup after running the driver set up correctly - there may be something wrong with the unit.
It definitely should show up after installing the driver.
Can you try installing it on any other computer just to be sure?
If you need to email me directly: bmullens@presonus.com

Ben,
It seems there's some kind of compatibility issue here.
I exchanged the FireStudio for another.
Connected the new one to that iMac G5 - guess what? Still no sync.
I JUST got a new MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel 2 Gb RAM. It is running OSX 10.5 Leopard.
I installed the 3.0.0.70 driver, and the FireStudio now syncs up.
Should I see a MIDI interface for the FS? I don't.
It still doesn't work with the PowerPC-based iMac.
I'd really like to be able to use this with either machine.
Differences:
1. PowerPC G5 vs. Intel processor
2. OSX 10.4.10 (Tiger) on the iMac; OSX 10.5 (Leopard) on the MacBook.
3. I've been using a Tascam US-122 on the iMac, so there is an audio driver for it installed. This is not true on the MacBook.
4. I also have an Edirol UM880 MIDI interface driver on the iMac, but not on the MacBook.
5. Finally, a Novation Remote SL on the iMac (with driver of course) which is not on the MacBook.
Does any of this sound like it might be causing the sync problem on the iMac?

I am having the same problem. I have a G4, 1.25 Ghz, 1.5GB Ram and I can't get the FS Project to sync... it does appear in the profiler, but not in the audio preferences... any help would be more than welcome, other than telling me to buy a new Macbook pro =)

I don't know how to uninstall the Presonus drivers, but the thought occurs to me that the 3.0.0.70 version might not actually be working on a PowerPC machine.
I did try installing the 1.0 version from the CD but it didn't appear to install over version 3.

I'm rockin the PowerBook G4 here....i know....we're talkin power here . I used a Firebox for the past 7 or 8 months (don't be jealous) and it's worked like a champ....but i got this Firestudio Project today and brought it home, installed the drivers, and plugged it up, and all i get is that glorious blinkage happening on mine as well. Not too fun. I've tried a million different things, and it just doesn't want to work. My FireControl also has the red exclamation point and doesn't display any window or options at all.
PLEASE HELP!

Same thing for me. Pretty much everything everyone else said is true for me. The Firestudio works on my MacBook (4G RAM, 2.2GHz, Leopard) but not on my PowerBook G4 (2G RAM, 2.5GHz, Tiger). Help, PreSonus geeks!

The new drivers don't work with Power PC (G5 or below) Macs, only the new Intel ones. So if you have an older system, try uninstalling all the drivers and just use the driver that came with your box (which should be and older driver).
Hope that works...

I have a Mac Book running OSX 10.4.11
It has been syncing intermittently but now not at all except sometimes briefly when I start my computer.
Cubase recognizes the firestudio in the device set up section but I still get the red and blue flashing light.
I was using the driver that came in the box already.
I just installed the drivers from the web site 3.1.1
I have tried poking myself with a sharp stick
No luck

Ok I just fixed my problem,
As it turns out the new driver was not working,
I done a search and found any files to do with firestudio and trashed them
I emptied the trash and re-downloaded and installed the 3.1.1 driver
Walla
If you have an older mac you might want to try deleting the new driver files and re-install the old driver that came in the box...yay

I just bought my Firestudio Project a few hours ago, brought it home, installed the drivers from the CD, restarted (with the unit attached), powered up, and no sync - just the blinking red light. Downloaded the latest drivers, repeated the above, nothing. Read the above posts, deleted the files, re-installed from the CD, tried again, and nothing... The first few time, the FireControl app kept crashing, or displaying nothing on screen.
I'm using a PowerBook G4 Aluminium
1.33Ghz, !GB RAM. I usually use Logic Pro, Reason, Komplete 5 and Live, but have not got near that stage with this interface yet... This is my first experience with Presonus... Trying not to jump to any conclusions, but have a gig on Tuesday that I would really like to use this interface for...
Would really appreciate some super-efficient feedback to get the unit working, and make me forget this minor (I hope) preliminary glitch!
Cheers.

I followed the steps again, removing ALL traces of the previous driver. Re-installed the drivers on the CD, restarted with the FSP attached and it synced. The FireControl software also seems to be working... Now to test it all!
Cheers.
PS: An un-installer would be really useful, or even a list of where the various files are distributed on the system, to speed up getting rid of them.
