Correct. The DigiMax LT has a unique design borne out of the creativity of the same engineer who was on the recent ADL 600 project.
This guy is a total genius!
May I ask what his name is.... just for the record....?
:)
And howcome you guys know so much about these things? LOL

For the record ... I can't.
We just develop gear we want or need in our own studios and go from there. Since pretty much everybody in the company either was or is in a band or owns a studio, we have a lot of experience and desires to fuel from.
That's great....
So just tell him I said Hi! LOL
It's just that I've been in love with those preamps forever... would shake the man's hand if I could.
:)

Thanx, JB.

Why cant you tell the name of the designer? its on the information page for the ADL
"The ADL 600 is a high voltage two-channel original microphone preamplifier designed by world-renown analog tube circuit designer Anthony DeMaria".
You should not do customers like that, what he asked for is public info, I hope you didnt loose a customer!!!!!!
I own the ADL 600, The Eureka with the 192 option and the Firestudio! Waitng for the MSR....
Peace,

Well ... duh.?!. (no offense Carter, but Anthony DeMaria's name is actually on the face of the ADL 600 (http://www.presonus.com/images/adl-600hi-hires.jpg) ... not even I'm mindless enough to try and hide his name from the project.)
The ADL 600 was a collaborative effort between Anthony DeMaria Labs (http://www.anthonydemarialabs.com/) (who designed the ADL 600) and PreSonus Audio Electronics, Inc (http://www.PreSonus.com). One of the engineers on our side of the project designed the DigiMax LT preamps -- it's his name I'm not at liberty to divulge.
I'll ask again on Tuesday when I get back in if it's really a big deal for people know who he is, but my initial response was a firm, "No."
Funny issue here... LOL
Well... maybe "NO" is just because it requires that boring paperwork (engineer authorization for the company to mention his name here or something) and people have more important things to do. Maybe it's a "teams/players/competition" kind of thing... where this guy is a MVP candidate.
But don't you (everybody!:D ) think the man would apreciate an ocasional "way to go!" from a costumer and feel good by having his name mentioned around?
We are talking mostly about one guy but I'm very sure that every piece of equipment that leaves the warehouse is the result of many people's work.
Why not give these people (everybody!:D) a few megabytes of pictures in the website? How cool would be having a picture of the team (with their names!) who developed the Digimax LT, for example, beat(!)... with their sleepless eyes and satisfaction smiles? Or let people know that this is just the way you imagine them... they don't actually look like that or wear bo ties. LOL
How is that for a "hippie-everybodyhappy" solution to take to Mr. Odom?:)

Woah pal I know his name is on the front I own one, the reason why I said that is because I dont think Yay owns one. So for you to come off like that was completely wrong I was just trying to give some info!

I also understand that it was a calabo event but you still didnt have to respond like that! not very professional in my book!

I misinterpreted somewhere along the way and found an insult directed at me. I let a rebuttal get mixed in amidst my response about how the designer was Anthony DeMaria but how the nameless individual I was referring to was one of our engineers.
As far as me saying I received a firm "No" the first time I asked, I just wanted to let you guys know that while I'm asking again in the morning about releasing our engineers' name, I was initially given a pretty solid "No" and that I'm likely to receive the same response despite my upcoming pleas.
I meant no harm or insult, so for that I apologize.
We try to be a little more laid back on these forums than we otherwise are, but I guess I got a little carried away and crossed the line with that post. I'll keep it down a bit next time and would like to thank you for pointing this out to me.
Meanwhile, it's 1 AM, and I have to be up in 6 hours, so I'm going to bed.
I hope you guys had a Merry Christmas and find it in your hearts to look past my faux pas.
Carter.... you are very right about all the stuff you are talking about.
I really don't own any ADL 600 (although that's one blackbox I'd like to have).
About the "No" thing... yes, sad sad sad....
JB.... laid back is good... makes people feel more free to ask stuff around... but I must say I felt like this thread was a bit harsh from your first post ("nothing"). It has not really encouraged me to ask on... my mindless curiosity and this man's (Carter) ideals have. :D
Looking forward for that name.
Y.
EDIT: And merry/happy everything to y'all too! :D

I have a tendency to talk too much, so unless the spirit moves me, I try to keep my initial responses as curt as possible ... I give the simplest answer possible. If it turns out more info was desired, it'll naturally turn into something a bit more fruitful (kinda like this post has). :)
After asking around this morning, the answer remains that I cannot tell you our engineer's name. In case you're wondering, there are two basic reasons why:
Competition. We don't want recruiters soliciting our engineers. If we let everybody know who our engineers are and what projects they've been a part of, we're basically doing our competitors' homework for them.
PreSonus Is. The DigiMax LT / FirePod / Inspire / etc isn't a Designer X product in the same way these aren't the 'Wesley' or 'jbski' Forums. As is common practice with development, ideas or products created by employees of a company are property of that company (sometimes even up to years after the employee parts with the company, depending upon how their contract is written).
As much as I would like to give our engineer public recognition, it's just not something we can do.
I've let our engineer know how much a stir the absence of his name has caused here, and he's quite flattered to be getting the attention. We love doing things right and love to hear when people are happy we do things right.
Fair enough for me. :)
Thanx.
Y.
Oh yes.... the very reason I started this thread is because I own a Digimax LT and a Digi 002....
The drums I record on them often need more then 8 channels and I like things to sound as "in the same universe" as possible. (didn't know the english for that one... sorry)
The Digi provides me 4 inputs with preamps and 4 line level inputs.
As (now I know) I can't find those preamps in products like the Bluetube (I know, I know...tube) or similar Presonus gear to feed the LL inputs, what is the closest to that I can achieve soundwise? (besides buiyng another LT and using the inserts as outs)
Y.
PS: If the nameless engineer wants to join us at this thread as a poster under a nickname or whatever to share his opinion on this last question, please be welcome to do so.

Three Preamps for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Louisiana where the Shadows lie.
One Preamp to rule them all, One Preamp to find them,
One Preamp to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Louisiana where the Shadows lie.
